All the Major transfers of the summer transfer window – 18/19
The
summer transfer window of 2018 was anything but predictable as we saw more than
a few moves which raised a lot of eyebrows. Here are all the major signings of the recently concluded transfer window.
1.
Nainggolan – Roma to Inter
The
experienced midfielder switched to Inter after making over 200 appearances for
Roma for a reported €38 million.
2. Cazorla – Arsenal
to Villarreal
Santi
Cazorla returned to Villarreal and will make his first competitive appearance
in almost 2 years after a ligament injury. He was released by Arsenal at the
end of his contract.

Jorginho – Napoli to Chelsea
Chelsea's
hijacked Manchester City's deal to sign Jorginho after Bakayoko's dismal first
season at Stamford Bridge made it crucial for the Blues to sign a quality
central midfielder. He has arrived from Napoli and reunites with Sarri as
Chelsea paid a fee in the region of £55 million.
4. Dalot – Porto to Manchester United
Manchester
United signed the “best young full-back in Europe”, as quoted by Mourinho, for
a fee of £19 million.
5. Schurrle – Borussia
Dotmund to Fulham (Loan)
The
former Chelsea winger made a surprising switch to the newly promoted Premier
League side on a loan deal that lasts for 2 years.
6. Joe Hart –
Manchester City to Burnley
Burnley
signed English keeper Hart after he ended his 12-year association with City.
The fee paid by Burnley is in the region of £4 million.
7. Ronaldo – Real
Madrid to Juventus
Definitely
the biggest transfer of the summer window. Cristiano Ronaldo signed for
Juventus after spending 9 years with Los Blancos. He let the club and the fans
know of his desire to leave after the Champions League final in May. His
transfer to Juventus has cost the club around €112 million.
8. Asamoah – Juventus to Inter
The
versatile Ghanaian completed his move to Inter for free as he rejected a new
Juventus contract.
9. Wilshere – Arsenal to West Ham
Yet another
free transfer as Jack Wilshere signed for another London based club in search of playing time.
10. Lemar – Monaco to Atlético Madrid
The
22-year-old winger moved to Atlético for a club record fee of €60 million. He
adds depth to the squad which won the Europa League last season.
11. Bonucci – AC Milan to Juventus
One of
the biggest surprises of the transfer window came when Juventus agreed to bring
in former defender Bonucci after he moved to AC Milan only a year ago. The
transfer occurred with a sensational player swap deal which brings us to our
next 2 transfers…
12. Higuain – Juventus to AC Milan (Loan)
Gonzalo
Higuain’s move in the opposite direction to Bonucci is an initial loan with an
option to buy next season. AC Milan is understood to be paying €18 million for
the loan.
13. Caldara – Juventus to AC Milan
Juventus
decided to let go of one of the best young defenders in Serie A to get Bonucci
back from AC Milan in a player swap deal.
14. Keita Balde – Monaco to Inter (Loan)
Inter
completed the loan signing of the 23-year-old Senegalese winger who has
experience in Serie A, being a former Lazio player.
15.
Buffon – Juventus to PSG
Gigi
Buffon's illustrious Juventus career came to an end after he announced last
season that he would be leaving the club after 17 years. He signed for PSG for
free as an ambitious project encouraged him to make the decision.
16. Mahrez – Leicester City to Manchester City
Riyadh
Mahrez finally completed his transfer to Man City after a string of failed bids
in the January transfer window. He has reportedly cost City a
club-record £60 million.
17. Shaqiri – Stoke City to Liverpool
Liverpool
increased their bench strength by paying Xherdan Shaqiri's release clause
of £13 million. Shaqiri provides a decent alternative should Salah or Mane
miss games due to injuries or suspensions, which will be important to
Liverpool's title push this season.
18. Zouma – Chelsea to Everton (Loan)
Everton
completed Zouma’s loan from Chelsea minutes before the Premier League transfer
deadline. The fast and skilled defender will look to gain more experience on
his second consecutive spell as a loanee.
19. Lenglet – Sevilla to Barcelona
Barcelona
snatched the young defender from Sevilla for €35 million as they look to build
on their League and Copa success last season.
20. Lautaro Martinez – Racing Club to Inter
Inter
continued their impressive work in the transfer market by bringing in the exciting
young attacker from Argentina for £20 million, fighting off competition from
Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.
21. Vietto – Atlético Madrid to Fulham (Loan)
24 year-old
striker Vietto moved to Fulham on a loan deal after making just six La Liga
appearances for Atlético last season.
22. Pastore – PSG to Roma
Javier
Pastore moved to Roma for €25 million. He will look to fill the void left by
Nainggolan’s departure.
23. Blind – Manchester United to Ajax
Blind
returned to his former club as he fell down the pecking order under Mourinho, playing
only seven times in the league last season.
24. Rooney – Everton to DC United
The all
time top scorer for England moved to the MLS with DC United, ending his
successful Premier League career.
25. Lichtsteiner – Juventus to Arsenal
The experienced
Swiss full-back signed for the Gunners for free after winning 7 league titles
with Juventus.
26. Golovin – CSKA Moscow to Monaco
The
winger opted Monaco over Chelsea after an impressive display at the World Cup.
It is understood that Monaco has paid a fee of €30 million to sign him.
27. Kovačić – Real Madrid to Chelsea (Loan)
Chelsea
completed the loan signing of Real’s young Croatian midfielder as Sarri
continues an overhaul after Chelsea’s disappointing season. However, the most
eye-catching part of the deal is that there is no option to buy at the end of the season.
28. Felipe Anderson – Lazio to West Ham
West Ham
broke their club transfer record to sign the Lazio attacking midfielder for £33.5
million.
29. Vidal – Bayern Munich to Barcelona
Vidal
ended his 3-year stint with Bayern Munich as Barcelona captured the Chilean for
a fee of £27 million.
30. Gelson Martins – Sporting CP to Atlético
Madrid
The pacy
Portugese winger cancelled his contract with Sporting after an attack at a
training camp in May and signed for Atlético.
31. Richarlison – Watford to Everton
The
21-year-old Brazilian winger signed for Everton for a fee of £40 million after
a breakthrough season at Watford. However, he did not score a league goal after
late November which lead to criticism over his transfer fee.
32. Malcom – Bordeaux to Barcelona
Barcelona
hijacked Roma’s deal to sign Malcom as an 11th hour intervention
meant that the Brazilian instead signed for Barcelona for a fee around £30
million.
33. Vinicius Jr. – Flamengo to Real Madrid
The deal
to sign the young and talented winger which was agreed last year was completed
as Real Madrid paid €45 million to Flamengo for the transfer.
34. Kalinic – AC Milan to Atlético Madrid
The
Croatian striker left AC Milan ending a misfiring spell in Italy to sign for Atlético
for €15 million.
35. Witsel – Tianjin Quanjian to Borussia
Dortmund
Dortmund
signed Belgian midfielder Witsel from the Chinese club for a fee reported to be
in the region of €20 million.
36. Paulinho – Barcelona to Guangzhou Evergrande
(Loan)
Paulinho
returned to his former Chinese club on an initial six month loan deal after
only a year at Barcelona.
37. Emre Can – Liverpool to Juventus
Can
rejected a contract extension at Liverpool and signed as a free agent for
Juventus, a deal whose rumors have been around for the last several months.
38. Kluivert – Ajax to Roma
The
19-year-old son of Patrick Kluivert signed for Roma in a deal that saw Roma pay
€17.5 million for his services.
39. Batshuayi – Chelsea to Valencia (Loan)
The
Belgian striker moved to Spain on a one-year loan deal with Valencia just after
returning from a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, with Chelsea trusting Morata
and Giroud as their main attacking options.
40. Fred – Shakhtar Donetsk to Manchester United
Mourinho
is set to give Pogba a role with lesser defensive duties than last season after
United's signing of Fred. Matić will have a new partner in defensive midfield
as Man Utd paid £52 million to get his services.
41. Joao Cancelo – Valencia to Juventus
Cancelo signed for Juventus after being on
loan at Inter last season, taking up the position left by Lichtsteiner. His
transfer also triggered Ronaldo’s move to Juventus as revealed by chief
Marotta, with both players having Jorge Mendes as their agent.
42. Digne – Barcelona to Everton
Lucas
Digne, who played second fiddle to Jordi Alba for most part of last season,
completed a £18 million move to Everton.
43. Torreira – Sampdoria to Arsenal
Arsenal
signed the Uruguay midfielder after he had a notable World Cup with Uruguay. It
is understood that Arsenal paid €30 million for his services.
44. Achraf Hakimi – Real Madrid to Borussia
Dortmund (Loan)
The
19-year-old fullback emerged when Carvajal was injured at the start of last
season and was included in Morocco’s World Cup squad. He completed a move to
Dortmund on a two-year loan deal.
45. Leno – Bayer Leverkusen to Arsenal
Arsenal
brought in a young and agile goalkeeper in Leno, with Petr Čech proving last
season that they may need a safer pair of hands in goal.
46. Bakayoko – Chelsea to AC Milan (Loan)
The French
defensive midfielder signed a loan deal with an option to buy for AC Milan
after a disastrous first season at Chelsea.
47. Yarmolenko – Borussia Dortmund to West Ham
West Ham’s
heavy investments in this transfer window also included the signing of the
Ukrainian winger from Dortmund for a fee of £17.5 million.
48. Ospina – Arsenal to Napoli
Arsenal’s
out-of-favor goalkeeper Ospina left for Napoli for £4 million after the Gunners
signed Leno.
49. Gameiro – Atlético Madrid to
Valencia
Valencia signed the French striker
for €16 million after Gameiro had limited opportunities last season when Costa
rejoined the club. Moreover, Atlético’s signing of
Kalinic left no room for the striker.
50. Keita – RB Leipzig to Liverpool
Liverpool boosted their midfield
with the signing of Leipzig’s central midfielder Keita who played a major role
as Leipzig came 2nd in Bundesliga in the 16/17 season. The deal had
already been agreed last season. His signature on the contract cost Liverpool £60
million.
51. Allison – Roma to Liverpool
Karius’s blunders in the Champions
League final meant that a new goalkeeper signing was imminent. Liverpool
captured Roma’s Allison at a staggering fee of £65 million.
52. Joao Moutinho – Monaco to Wolverhampton
The Wolves added the experienced
Portugese midfielder and Euro winner to their squad after promoting to the
Premier League.
53. Odriozola – Real Sociedad to Real Madrid
Real Madrid completed the signing
of the 22-year-old Spanish right-back for €40 million. He is set to play as backup for Carvajal after Achraf Hakimi was loaned to Dortmund.
54. Carlos Sanchez – Fiorentina to West Ham
West Ham continued their summer
overhaul under new manager Pellegrini by signing the former Aston Villa
midfielder from Fiorentina in the last minutes of the window.
55. Vrsaljko – Atlético Madrid to
Inter (Loan)
The Croatian right back had a terrific
World Cup and was captured by Inter on a year’s loan with an option to buy.
56. Fabinho – Monaco to Liverpool
Liverpool brought in Brazilian Fabinho
for a fee of €50 million to fill the gap left in midfield by Can who left for
Juventus.
57. Yerry Mina – Barcelona to Everton
Everton signed Barca’s backup
centre back after a decent World Cup. The deal was completed for €30 million.
58. Delaney – Werder Bremen to Borussia Dortmund
The talented 26-year-old midfielder
signed for Dortmund for a fee of around €20 million after reportedly rejecting
contracts from Premier League sides.
59. Arthur – Gremio to Barcelona
Barcelona purchased the artistic midfielder
from Brazil for €40 million. He has been tipped to be the heir to Xavi's throne when he develops to his full potential.
60. Courtois – Chelsea to Real Madrid
The Belgian keeper angered a lot of
Chelsea fans as he forced through a move to Real Madrid. He will look to fight
off Navas for the No.1 spot in Lopetegui’s team. His transfer cost Real Madrid €35
million.
61. Theo Hernandez – Real Madrid to Real Sociedad (Loan)
Real Madrid’s backup for Marcelo was
loaned out to Real Sociedad for a year as the new manager put his faith in
youngster Sergio Reguilon.
62. Pepe Reina – Napoli to AC Milan
The former Liverpool keeper
rejected a new contract at Napoli to sign for AC Milan after a lot of rumors
linked him to Chelsea.
63. Rui Patricio – Sporting CP to Wolverhamton
Patricio was another one of the
players who cancelled their contract with Sporting after an attack at a training camp in May. He joined a host of Portugese
players currently playing for newly promoted Premier League side Wolverhampton.
64. Kepa Arrizabalaga – Athletic Bilbao to
Chelsea
The young keeper became the most
expensive goalkeeper in history as Chelsea rushed in to replace Courtois with a
transfer fee of € 80 million.
65. Andre Silva – AC Milan to Sevilla (Loan)
The Portugese striker ended his nightmare season at AC Milan with a loan move away to Sevilla. His deal also includes an
option to buy.
66. N'Zonzi – Sevilla to Roma
The midfielder signed for Roma
after winning the World Cup with France for a fee in the region of €27 million.
67. Andre Gomes – Barcelona to Everton (Loan)
The Portugese midfielder was loaned
to Everton after a stint full of struggle with Barcelona. The loan deal runs
through the 18/19 season.
68. Sokratis – Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal
Arsenal will look to solve their
defensive woes of last season with the £17 million signing of Sokratis from
Dortmund.
69. Goretzka – Schalke to Bayern Munich
Bayern completed the already agreed transfer of Leon Goretzka for free as Arturo Vidal's departure left a spot for another midfielder to fill.
70. Politano – Sassuolo to Inter (Loan)
Inter added to their team as they signed the Italian winger on loan from Sassuolo with an option to buy next season. He scored 11 goals in the Serie A last season.
71. Strootman – Roma to Marseille
Kevin Strootman reunited with his former manager Rudi Garcia after signing for Marseille for a fee of around €25 million.
72. Alcacer – Barcelona to Borussia Dortmund (Loan)
Barcelona loaned out striker Paco Alcacer to Dortmund with an option to buy at the end of the season. The fee to be paid should Dortmund decide to buy him is €23 million.
73. Karius – Liverpool to Besiktas (Loan)
Liverpool offloaded the unfortunate keeper whose errors cost them in the Champions League final last season. Besiktas have an option to make his move permanent after the initial 2 year loan deal.
74. Bernat – Bayern Munich to PSG
PSG bolstered their defence with the signing of Bayern left-back Juan Bernat for £13.5 million. He is expected to be PSG's main left-back until Kurzawa returns from what looks like a long tern injury.
75. Mariano – Lyon to Real Madrid
Real Madrid re-signed striker Mariano as they exercised their buy-back clause to prevent his move to Sevilla. He completed his move in the final days of the transfer window and has been handed the iconic number 7 shirt.
