Marco Asensio : The most exciting young talent in the world

In 2005 the Willemsem family went to a park in Mallorca and saw Florentino Perez's boat. Maria Willemsem personally went to greet the Real Madrid president and told him that her son would play for Real Madrid. Young Marco Asensio was only 8 back then but his mother saw in him the talent that is leaving us speechless everytime he walks out on the field.

Unfortunately, Maria passed away when Marco was only 15 and left behind her two sons and their father.

In 2016, Marco completed his mother's promise to Florentino and became a Real Madrid player. He broke down to tears during his presentation remembering his mother who he said was "always watching over him from above".

And then followed a series of excellent performances over the next season, probably Real Madrid's best in history.

He scored a screamer on his debut in the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla as the whites claimed glory. He also went on to score in all his debut matches for Real Madrid in different competitions. A chip in his first La Liga game, an excellent drive in the Copa del Rey and a sublime solo goal against Bayern in the Champions League quarter final are all instances where he proved his worth. Later in the season he would go on to score a goal to wrap up an excellent performance from Real Madrid in the Champions League final against Juventus.

Come next season and he scored two goals against Barcelona over the two legs of the Spanish Super Cup, both being strikes that left everybody bamboozled.

His excellent performance against Valencia early in the season made the difference as Real Madrid hung on until the last minute to claim a draw, Asensio scoring both the goals for Los Blancos . He is, as of now, one of the best youngsters in the world. He's one player to watch out for as the season goes on.

It does take a huge amount of hardwork to hear this from Zidane - "his left foot is second only to Messi".

In an inflated transfer market that never refuses to surprise, people cannot help but wonder how Real Madrid got his signature for only €4.5 million - the signature of a future superstar.
